Last night I decided that I was going to prepare myself for some good theater. I took a shower, shaved, got into a nice pair of pajamas. Made a cup of hot chocolate and sat in my fake Laz-E-Boy lounger to watch our President speak.
Within 10 minutes, I knew all was lost so I went online and tried to solve my Wordle puzzle or was it Words with Friend 3.0? Not sure because my mind was slowly numbed by what may have been the one of the most bizarre speeches in recent memory.
Not so much for the content but for the delivery and the bumbling of sentences. The constant mistakes and backtracking to find his place in the speech. It was cringeworthy.
As you all well know, I am not a big fan of Joe Biden but deep down, I feel for him a little. He is an older gentlemen who the Democrats trot out periodically to mumble some nonsense and then bring him back in. They do damage control or try and sell the American public on some spending bill that the Biden Administration wants passed. While that may be a nice way to explain it, the facts are pretty simple. Joe Biden is a puppet. His strings are being pulled by some backroom coterie of puppet masters that have an agenda for America that may or may not align with what is really in the best interests of this country.
In simplest terms, the Democrats want to spend this country into oblivion just to make sure that they keep getting reelected. The more the government spends, the better off the population is and to hell with having to pay for it. It is the Democratic mantra that has been in place since LBJ.
It is the bottomline to the border crisis. Let as many people in. See who stays, give them free housing, clothes, cellphones and cash. Who do you think they will vote for (illegally mind you)?
Our beloved President may or may not have addressed this issue last night. I am not sure because I was looking for a six letter word with these letters, B,U,L,L,S,H. I couldn’t find the I or the T. I seem to recall he did mention something about having a firmer border policy but it was up to Congress. WTF? He set the freaking wheels in motion, it is up to him to fix it. Sorry.
He also rambled on about some nonsense regarding oil company profits. He wanted them to use their outsized profits to drill for more oil and then he is going to transition the country away from oil. His stupidity knows no bounds.
Maybe I should dedicate my afternoon to listening to this speech over and over again and try and make sense of it all.
Maybe not.
If you want to parse through the speech and get a very biased analysis, read the NYTimes today. I read most of the articles on the speech digitally and they didn’t mention that he started off horribly and got progressively worse. Their analysis and fact checking was pretty good but it missed a ton of misstatements. He cut the deficit by 1.3 trillion dollars? Uh no. He brought down the price of gas by a dollar fifty from it’s peak. Yeah, partially true. Never mentions that his policies caused that incredible spike in the first place. What’s a good bullet point without some lies?
As I said, I really had a hard time paying attention to this speech. I knew there would be fabrications (every president does it) and I thought there would be some concrete plans for America in there but if I recall, the only thing that actually was concrete was his plan to make insulin more affordable. He is 100% correct about that and surprisingly he was very clear as well.
All in all, I would give the speech a D-.
Now to the GOP response. Let’s just say, in the 40 years I have been listening to this drivel I have never heard any party have the response that Sarah Huckabee Sanders gave last night. Saying that Joe Biden was “unfit to be President” is pretty strong language and unfortunately she really didn’t back that up with anything substantive. Yes, she said that the facts are actually quite different from what President Biden presented but you pretty much can make that same case for every Presidential speech. Thats not impeachable. You throw something like that out there, you back it up. I felt she didn’t. She said a lot of things most Americans feel about how this country has gone haywire to some extent and it is time to bring it back. I partially agree but I think there has to be some middle ground on certain things and I don’t think the Democrats are 100% wrong about certain things. It’s time to shut up and listen. On both sides.
Look, some political pundits are saying that Biden’s speech was more about him preparing America for another run at the Presidency and less about “bringing the country together”. Maybe. I definitely can see their points but I think the Democratic puppet masters have to realize that Joe Biden is going into that horrible black hole of Dementia and there will be no turning back if they allow him to run again.
He sure didn't disappoint......
