We have all been dealing with directives and information from our nations experts for quite some time and I think it is pretty clear, very few of them know what they are talking about.
This will cover a broad expanse of our national governmental infrastructure. The CDC changes its mind at least three times a month. The White House makes decisions that make one scratch your head or even if you agree with the White House, you have to admit there have been some pretty bad decisions over the years. Pretty much every governmental agency is driven by politics or worse, incompetence.
The US Postal Service is a prime example. They are being crushed by COVID, competition and competency. They are talking about moving back expected delivery dates for first class mail. What? How could you get any slower? It is an organization that is greatly needed and has blown every opportunity it has had to become profitable.
Give me the time and I can site several more examples of governmental incompetence. Bureaucracy is the tangle of agencies that stymie growth and innovation.
The only part of our government that actually runs efficiently and with purpose is the military and that is the way it should be. There are problems there but in true military fashion, they know what the problems are and they are willing to do the hard work to fix them, they just need more and more money.
With all of this being said it just really gets me going whenever I see or hear anyone from the “Squad” speaking.
We are already in the throws of a government gone mad as far as spending is concerned. Money is being pushed out to interests all across the board in the guise of infrastructure improvements and making us better able to compete on the World stage. Actually, all that money is being spent to create a nation where the expectation is that the government will be there to create and sustain new jobs, better wages and an overall better life for its citizens.
HMMM, I am sorry but that sounds eerily similar to socialism and if you know anything about me, socialism is my kryptonite. I lose it and while I do believe that both sides of any opinion are worth hearing, I will not waste a moment of my time listening to someone trying to explain that we are better off with a government that is intimately involved in our lives.
Call me a Libertarian, call me what you want. Socialism does not work. Governments do not need to be involved pushing along agendas. If Americans want change, they will change their habits. They will use the power of Capitalism to evoke change and sadly for all socialist out there, capitalism works just fine bringing about change.
Looking at the Pandemic from a critical eye you can say that the government did what it thought it should do and fund and speed up emergency approvals of the three vaccines now available. They let the private sector do what it does best, create vaccines that may (or may not totally) slow the advance of Covid 19. That is exactly what they did.
Imagine if you will, what the development of a vaccine might have looked like if the US Government was responsible from beginning to end. Imagine what that would have looked like.
President Trump got everything off to good start because he believed the private sector (Pfizer, Moderna, Merck, etc) were up to the challenge and they were. They developed the vaccines needed and got production ramped up in an incredibly short time. The government only guaranteed the purchase (at a fair price) of approved vaccines. Whether you believe in vaccinations or not, this was a triumph of capitalism and the private sectors ability to step up. I have zero problem with the outsized profits these companies may make. They did what they knew they could and they should be able to profit from it.
Let’s see a socialist country do that. What? You say Russia developed a vaccine. Yes, and it is not nearly as effective as what we have and remember, while Russian may practice some form of communism/socialism, it has an economy that has moved more towards a capitalism than maintaining a totally state run economy. What about China? Thats pure communism and they have a vaccine that seems to be working. Maybe. I am not sure I believe one tenth of what comes out of China as fact or something close to a fact so I am not sure that “China’s Vaccine” is all that good. One note, it seems that many of the countries that China exported their vaccine to, are having some major issues with Covid 19, vaccinated or not. These countries have questioned the efficacy of the vaccine China has supplied them with.
Bottomline is this, having the government get more and more involved in the economy of this country is dangerous. Believe me, I am a Patriot and I believe in our form of government as much as anyone, but I just don’t feel the need for that government to become the sole source of our economic growth.
Excellent Analogy and Very Succinct, good article, Thank You!
