Progressives Get It Wrong...Again
Once again, I may be missing something here and hopefully, someone out there can explain it to me so I will better understand this.
My query is fairly simple; If the United States continues to cut off its possible supplies of oil and gas, doesn’t that theoretically make the price of oil and gas rise? Since supply is cut back, the commodity is scarcer and prices rise correct?
Ok, so if that is true, why has the Biden administration taken such a negative stance against petroleum production in this country? We have proven that we can be a net exporter of oil. We have proven that we have the ability to do it at a lower cost than ever before. We have proven that a reliable source of petroleum is a foundation for a steady, growing economy.
Now that we have proven all of that, why has the administration decided that petroleum production is a bad thing and we must stop it whenever we get the chance? The progressives believe by making oil more expensive it will hasten the transition to alternative energy sources and we will cure climate change, all by ourselves. Thats the gist of it, I think. Have the sun power our cities. Harness wind to gather all that free energy. Uh, wait, are there any other “Free” sources of energy out there to take the place of fossil fuels?
Hydroelectric? Been there, done that. Any new plans are an environmental disaster. Nuclear? Should be the answer but for some reason they have only 95% of the technology to make these behemoths safe. Tides? Fusion?
You see, we aren’t there yet and if you think the alternatives are environmentally pure, you are wrong. Every source of energy has a cost, hidden or otherwise.
Vast arrays of solar panels use a lot of raw materials that have to be mined and also alter the environment they are installed in. Wind turbines, same thing. No matter what man does, it will have an impact on the environment.
Put aside the environmental impacts, look at the social impacts of what the Biden Administration is doing. In this progressive push to EV’s and an all electric world they are putting a much bigger burden on the people they say they are trying to help most. Rising fuel prices (because of Biden Administration policies) impacts the poor and lower economic stratum more than any other socio-economic group. The cost of transportation becomes a larger percentage of their costs and gives them less for necessities. Fuel oil becomes more expensive. Food prices go up. Inflation eats what they have and yet they still vote for these people.
The rising cost of daily life impacts the poor more than anyone else. You ask any marginalized person in this country if they care about the environment at the expense of their living conditions and I can guarantee that they will say that getting by, day to day is more important. It is a struggle for them everyday and why do we have an administration that says one thing but acts totally different when it comes to these people. These people do not have the financial ability to go out and buy a Tesla or a Ford F150 Lightning. Their transition to Ev’s and such probably will never happen because they are kept back by a progressive administration that wants the World to see them as the cure instead of the problem. The lower middle class can only see the problem.
Closing off environmentally sensitive areas is one thing but to cancel pipelines and put in place regulations that hinder the development of known oil reserves is not in the best interests of your core constituency. The transition to EV’s will happen. Market forces will make it happen as they become more available at a more sustainable price. Increased numbers of charging stations and better technology will push the transition with little government help.
The Democrats have never believed in market forces or capitalism for that matter and with the borderline Socialists running around yapping, they will never get it. Capitalism works. It works when left alone.
