I have seriously been trying to keep a more positive tone with these columns. I really have but sometimes things just get me going and this will be a column to let it all out.
You all know by now I have no love for President Biden. He is a puppet of the progressives in his party and has completely abandoned his base. Plus, senility and stupidity are crossing over and intertwining in his speech and it really is just not a good look.
My feelings about Presidents are simple. They have to be leaders that Americans can trust. They have to be statesmen. They have to hire the best available talent to fill key rolls in his/her cabinet.
Pretty simple huh?
Well, the jury is still out on can you trust this guy. I think there is stuff that is being buried under trash somewhere and his son Hunter is the star of that disaster. Parents usually will do anything to protect their kids, I get that but this is more about the security of this country and I think that is where President Biden needs to draw the line.
As far as being a statesman, President Biden has had some wins and some losses. He has pushed for more and more aid to Ukraine and shows no sign of backing down to Putin. Argue all you want, the alternative would not have been good. He seems completely with it when speaking to leaders of the free world and that has to give them some confidence in his ability to lead. On the other hand, he is solely responsible for the embarassing pullout from Afghanistan and he has protected foreign borders better than his own. Statesman-wise though I would give him a C-.
Now comes the real disaster of his Presidency, Pete Buttigieg.
Let’s face it. Who in their right mind ever thought that Buttigieg would do a good job as Transportation Secretary? He was the mayor of a small isolated town in Indiana. No clue if he did a good job there. Seems like he may have. Not sure. He ran one of the worst Presidential campaigns in recent memory and was booted early. He has zero background in transportation other than he has a driver’s license (I am not even sure about that) and here he is, the face of the administration in all things transportation.
Let’s see how that has gone. Hmm. We had major supply chain disruptions during 2020-2021 and where was the Transportation Secretary? No clue. Did he speak to all the entities involved with this fiasco and strong arm them to solve it? I don’t believe so. We are still dealing with that now.
Southwest Air foobars the holiday season and strands hundreds of thousands of passengers and where was Pete? Nowhere to be found.
Now we have a certifiable disaster in East Palestine Ohio and where is this chump? At first denying aid to the stricken community. Then he backtracks and says that there are over 1,000 derailments a year and this is just one of them. Huh? This thing is a major environmental disaster on a national railroad. A railroad that your department oversees and you fluff it off? Then you backtrack again and say you will get to it. Two weeks in and he still hadn’t gone to the site.
This guy is literally the worst Cabinet member I have ever seen. He was totally unqualified for this position and should never have been appointed in the first place. Was it because he fulfilled some quota for the progressive left? Surely that can’t be the reason.
An interesting side note about Pothole Pete. The president rammed through this incredibly large infrastructure bill. Trillions of dollars dedicated to upgrading the roads, bridges, tunnels, railroads and airports of this country. Yet, no matter where you look in New York, the roads are getting worse. Before you jump down my throat and say it takes time for this money to filter through the system, I know that. In several instances my local town has said that they are ready willing and able to do the repair work needed, they don’t have the materials to start work on any of the projects needed. Isn’t the transportation department supposed to have a hand in getting materials out to the communities? Why is there trillions of dollars of additional spending out there and yet 8 months after the bill was signed, everything has gotten worse? Like I said, crap rolls uphill and this branch of our Federal Government has failed on so many levels that all you can do is blame leadership.
On a broader note, Pete Buttigieg has indicated that he may be thinking about another run for President and I think that is a fabulous idea because if he wins the nomination we will end up with a Republican president no matter who the Republicans put up.
My dream team for the Democrats has to be Buttigieg/O’Rourke. That will go down as the worst pairing since Joey started dating Rachel on Friends.
Good last analogy. Seems to me, pete(racist roads) and dementia joe reflect the complete lack of ability of this administration. Also, blinken is no Pompeo. I thought the carter administration was bush league but this one has been the most incompetent, from the top down.
