Memorial Day
Typically I don’t put in links to other podcasts or articles. I am not sure why but I think it has to do with I prefer to say what I am going to say and see where the chips fall.
However, since it’s Memorial Day, one of the most sacred holidays we have, I am going to suggest you listen to this podcast from The American Story:

From The Claremont Institute, a conservative think tank that does an excellent job of presenting conservative issues without going down any number of rabbit holes that are out there.
I know this is the “unofficial” start of summer and it’s all about baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet but we can’t ever forget how this country got here. Forget all the noise you hear on a daily basis for a minute and think about America. Even with those voices shouting loudly, this is still the greatest country on Earth and our freedoms and our version of democracy has worked for over 200 years. This is non-negotiable. The freedoms we have here are the envy of the World and those freedoms have been fought for by the men and women of our military.
Young men and women who have sacrificed everything to defend those freedoms should never be forgotten and as long as I am able, I will always show profound respect and gratitude for the members of our military and their families.
Memorial day is a solemn day. A day to remember the sacrifices in the name of freedom. Men and women believing in that sacrifice so that their families and friends can enjoy days like today.
We have been involved in many wars that we should have never been in. Vietnam, Afghanistan to bring up two. Over 50,000 soldiers died in those two wars alone and their heroism and bravery should never be taken for granted or disrespected. The fallacy of those two conflicts should never overwhelm the facts of the lives lost and the lives destroyed.
We, as a nation, do a horrible job of caring for the veterans that have come back home. The physical and the mental wounds are deep and it is as if the soldiers are to blame for the stupidity of our leaders. It is beyond me how this country spends so little helping so many yet this country can spend billions on entitlement programs that rarely help our veterans.
You ask why I dislike almost every politician, it starts there.
Loving this country and defending this country should never be a point of contention. I will say what every man and woman of a certain age has said since God knows when: “You hate this country, there is no one stopping you from leaving”.
Call me old fashioned, call me ignorant to the truths of this country, I honestly don’t give a rat’s ass. I am proud to be an American, today and everyday. I am so grateful to the men and women of our military, today and everyday.
