Not surprising I guess since I am always on the verge anyway but now, it’s a little different.
My anger, this time, I feel is not displaced at all. It’s in the laps of the liberals and quasi-socialists in this country that have such a true hatred for Democracy and the rule of law that they think throwing money at every social cause, while attempting to stymie and strangle the true lines of defense we have against anarchy, locally and internationally, is a sound governing model.
The facts are pretty conclusive at this point, the crime rate is going up and in some areas its breaking records. The Democrats and Liberals think that A: It’s not a problem until the New York Times says it’s a problem. B: Defunding the police will result in more socially responsible policing and society will see the positive impacts of socially responsible policing soon.
Well, I am here to tell you, crime is a problem. Not only in the inner city but in the suburbs as well.
If you have joined a local social network like Nextdoor you will see what I mean. Not a day goes by when someone is reporting illegal activity. I live on the North Shore of Long Island and it is typically a very safe place. Crime has always been low and that was part of the appeal of living here. Like other suburban areas around the country, what we have seen is a substantial increase in car theft, home break-ins and so on. It’s hard to avoid the subject no matter who you talk to.
Historically, upticks in crime are usually preceded by rough economic times. Millions of studies have been done about the subject and it is pretty much established that one corresponds to the other.
With that in mind, it is understandable that crime may be on an upward trend but why in God’s name would you want to cut spending on police forces around the country when you see this storm approaching?
There is a crime wave, we do not have Batman to come confront the villains, so we need a well funded, well trained police force to equalize the equation. I don’t dismiss the issues that people of color have with an over aggressive police force. I know it’s real but these instances are few and far between when you look at the bigger picture and consider how many contacts that are made between police and citizens. The bigger picture is that police are now forced to handle things differently and possibly not respond to many calls. We are also losing police at an alarming rate and the incoming classes are substantially smaller than previous police academy classes. This does not bode well for society, no matter where you live, what color you are.
Liberals are responsible for a lot of the chaos we are now witnessing and it’s a shame but they actually think that being softer on crime will prevent bigger crimes. Criminals are being let back on the street with no bail, with no recollection of past misdeeds and local communities are suffering.
This all has to stop. The stupidity involved here is mind boggling. The numbers bear out that less policing allows for more crime. Simple stuff I’d say.
I will never lay this at the foot of police departments. They are the tool of the justice system and that justice system should be backing up the police but it is doing that less and less. That justice system was for the most part elected by their communities. The communities that are being underserved and overridden by criminals. Vote for crap, you get crap I always say.
Not electing people that actually believe this liberal hogwash is the first step in taking back our communities. Sometimes I just wonder how we could have gotten to this spot in the first place. Maybe voting on straight party lines is responsible. Maybe peoples indifference to local elections is responsible. I am not sure of the answer but if more people voted I am not so sure the elections results would look like the Three Stooges or Dumb and Dumber. Maybe getting qualified people to run could be a start.
Some people think that our problem with crime stems from the present administration since all good and all evil seems to generate out of the White House. I am sorry, while I think President Biden should stand up and say that his administration is going to do everything it can to stem the rising crime wave, I do think most of the responsibility falls locally or at the very least, statewide.
One last parting thought. What America is witnessing is once again a failure in liberal agenda policies and since these policies are hitting home directly, maybe, just maybe, American voters will see that that is not the path the country should take. We can only hope.
First of all for all, Thank You for your great articles, and second, for today's article speaking out against the direction of the liberal agenda. As a retired owner of the largest Bail Bond company in Tucson, I also can agree with you on the current direction of their agenda and how it fails the innocent citizen.
Where I sadly split from You is at your last paragraph, citing the last California Gubernatorial recall......
