Full of Hot Air
This might be a touch late for some but I was in the middle of 23 different things and finally am back in front of my computer.
I do not do this on my phone, I am old school.
I have written about the stupidity and hypocrisy of this move to zero emissions before. Unfortunately for my long term readers you are going to hear about it again. I would apologize but i think everyone needs to be reminded about what a puppet President Joe Biden is.
Before I start, let me first say, I am not against electric vehicles. I think they are fun, ultimately better for the environment in some minor way and like every product ever created, it is meant to replace something that works just as well.
The reason I am starting to ruffle my feathers again about this lunacy is because President Biden has signed into law some heavy duty emission standards basically making it impossible for manufacturers of gas powered cars to meet those stringent standards. Thus paving the way for EV’s to take over the World, God help us all.
The reason that Biden did an end run to get this accomplished is because pretty much every American realizes it won’t happen on it’s own.
This is the left brainwashing a doddering old man and making him do their bidding for sure. I have to express my disdain for this tactic. The left wants no part of a coherent President because even the most left leaning person with 75% mental capacity can see that forcing the transition to a more electrified world in 9 years is foolish.
If you believe the scientists the World is going to melt up in 15 years and it’s all because of Americans love for gas powered vehicles. The fact that the Earth has gone through thousands of warming cycles over it’s existence, with no help from humans mind you, has no bearing on what we are going through now.
Every time I hear “Global Warming” or as it’s called now “Climate Change” I want to vomit. It is a fact of nature. Surely humans have accelerated the rate but having 9 billion people on the planet will surely have some impact no?
I think we are in it, we have to learn to deal with it and if we eventually get to an all electric future, so be it but forcing it on us before we actually even are ready for it, doesn’t work for me.
There are as many downsides to this electric future as there are upsides.
Number one, the electric grid in this country and pretty much everywhere else is not capable of handling the demands of this future society. The electric power lines that get the power to us are overtaxed as it is. What? They are going to build more of these monstrosities? NOMBY! Nope.
Next, the power generation to supply all this is inadequate and we need power plants and soon. Quick and oh yeah, the fastest and cheapest way is to add more natural gas and coal generating plants. Confusing huh?
Oh wait, we have wind turbines to supply all this juicy power! Sorry, companies that actually do it effectively want no part of the US market. Too much BS. Mostly from progressive environmentalists.
Solar Farms? Ok, that won’t work, the power needed is not solar farm conducive. Good luck getting a solar farm in New Jersey or New Hampshire. The sun shines 27% of the time. Won’t help. Oh wait the desert! Yes, 1,900 miles away and that’s a lot of those towers nobody wants.
I will say that the way to go and it has always been the way to go is Nuclear energy. Time and money should be spent creating smaller, more localized power plants using nuclear energy. Spent power rods? Oh those will go to Iran in the next Biden secret plan.
My point is obvious, to have an all electric future you have to have the electricity, where it is needed, on demand. As far as getting this done, technology is probably 10 years behind and it needs to be three years ahead.
Couple of little ditties about electric cars. The batteries have a lifespan, whatever it may be, 7 years, 10 years. Then what happens. Your car is no longer worth anything unless you spend 7,500 to12,500 dollars on replacing them. A gas powered car with care, can last 25 to 30 years and if you live in Cuba 50 to 100 years. They are eminently fixable and the supply chain for gas powered vehicle repair has been robust and will continue to be robust. The other thing to think about is when the lifespan of a battery is up, what do you do with them? Surely our progressive conservation minded population will love to have them dumped into some landfill where every vile chemical in one of those batteries will leach into the soul. That is your hypocrisy.
The lifespan of those gargantuan wind mills is a lot shorter. What do you do with a 150 foot propeller blade that is made out of some God awful composite that is not biodegradable nor is it recyclable. Oh wait, let’s dump them in the sea and make new reefs for sea life. Another bit of hypocrisy.
Oh and what about the mining that is done to get the components for the batteries and the solar panels and every other peace of our future? Anyone on 60 Minutes go down to the Cobalt mines in Kenya or The Congo? You think buying a Blood Diamond is bad, check out the conditions these people work under. Why would our media change the course of the discussion and have a fully well informed population?
I imagine if Donald Trump gets elected again, this will be one of the things he will undue. We do need to be better wards of this planet for sure but it needs to be done understanding the positives and the negatives of whatever we are trying to do.
