With the guilty verdict in the Chauvin trial behind us, questions still remain. Are we truly a “racist society”? Is “White Supremacy” actually a thing? Should we defund the police?
Let’s get the first two questions out of the way. I do think racism exists as it has for hundreds of years and will continue to exist in some form for hundreds of years to come. That’s not to say that we are a racist society, we are not. Am I splitting hairs here? I don’t think so. Racism is a very broad term and it can take all sorts of shapes and sizes. Pinning it down might be the game that Liberals want to spend their lives doing but for most of society, knowing it exists and trying to be more conscious of it, hopefully will, over time, reduce it. I do think society is getting better at understanding it and limiting it in big ways and small. My perspective is from that so called “Privileged white perspective” so I may not truly understand how deep racism goes in this country but I do think things are changing and changing for the better.
“White Supremacy” is a bullshit term and it should be excised from daily usage. It invokes a time of slaves and slave masters and while that is a huge stain on the history of this country, it is history and it does not exist today. There are lunatic right wing factions in some cave in Idaho or Montana that actually believe some of that non-sense but there is not one half way educated white person in this country that actually thinks that “White Supremacy” is a real concept. The media should drop it. The liberals should give the vast majority of Americans some sort of credit for being intelligent and give it up. Do African Americans believe this is alive and well? My gut tells me that they include a-lot of ignorant racist actions as acts of White Supremacy. Semantics maybe but overall, this country is not suffering from some hidden White Supremacy movement.
The last thing that I mentioned is perhaps the most serious and most dangerous. Defunding the police to me, might be the worst thing that has come out of all of this racial reawakening our country is going through. The idea of defunded the one element that is protecting society from chaos is just plain ignorant. Sure, there have been more instances of police overreach in the news than in any period I can remember but that does not mean that reducing a policeman’s role in society will help. Things will only get worse and if you want a prime example of that, look at New York City. The city in 2019 was one of the safest metropolises in the World. Murder rates were at their lowest in decades, robberies the same. The city became a place where families could live and tourists would come and visit time and time again. Not anymore. Liberal policies have basically cut off the NYPD at it’s knees. From no-bail to not enforcing any misdemeanor violations, the city has begun to run amuck. For example: The task force that the Giuliani administration put into action to reduce gun violence by actively investigating gun sales and gun transportation was shut down. Gun violence is up over 100% from 2019. To top off all of these brilliant moves, the mayor has decided to cut back on funding of the Police Department and if you think that all of the restrictions put on cops was a morale killer, what do you think defunding the department is doing?
This is where a major hypocrisy will rear it’s ugly head. With all the movements to remake and defund police departments, the Democrats have taken a side on the safety of the population issue. They believe that by reducing funding, that will solve the problems they feel are endemic in police departments across the country. It’s like punishing a child by cutting back on his allowance. Horrible idea for men and women who risk their lives everyday to keep us safe. When some Liberal policy maker runs into a man with a gun walking home from a 25% filled restaurant and calls the police and finds out that there will be an hour to two hour wait because, their life is not in danger, I think the tune will change. God forgive, but if one of these out on no bail scum shoots and kills someone, what will policymakers say then? It’s society’s fault?
One point I think these moronic Liberal know-it-alls are completely ignoring is what do the people in these communities want? A Defund and restrict presence policy in what is already a high crime neighborhood or a strong force that responds to their needs and help keep their children safe? Ask the people who it most effects. If not, wait until the next election cycle and see who the last person standing is.
I do agree with you on all but the last paragraph. Register only legal voters, then review the voting machines. That is the only way we can get closer to a "fair" election. I'm from Chicago, where you vote many times and vote whether your above or below terra firma. There has to be REAL accountability in our elections or as we know already, 3rd world status is one election away. Look how the fighting is going in Phx/Maricopa county right now regarding the past election votes. Every American should want fair elections, whether you win or lose. Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!
Defund the police was bad branding. No one sane wants the police defunded.
