As usual, I borrow my title from someone, this time Joan Rivers. It was a line she used before she eviscerated some celebrity and this column has nothing to do with eviscerating anyone, it is more about being honest with yourself.
We are 16 months into the Biden Presidency and I am not really sure things are going as planned for President Biden. If you have followed my columns over the last few years you pretty much know how I feel about him and the Democratic party overall. Today’s column is more about what you honestly feel about some hot button issues and the key word is honesty.
What I would like to do is pose a few questions for you, my loyal readers, to take a few minutes and truly think about those questions and answer honestly. The key to all these questions is the fact that there are only two possible answers, Yes or No. No equivocating, no excuses, no explanations, no caveats. Yes or No. You can email me your answers or you can keep them to yourselves, your choice.
1. Do you think President Biden is doing a good job? It is a very simple question and I do believe that depending on what side you are on, answering yes or no will be difficult. That is my main point here. One side will know what they feel quickly and with no explanation and one side will hem and haw and try to reframe the question in six different ways. The question is simple, the answer should be as well.
2. Do you think the country is doing better under the present administration or worse? Another simple question but I feel that no matter what side of the aisle you sit, you will want to explain why you feel the way you do. It is simple, better or worse. I do not care what measure you use, honestly think about this country (not your individual situation) are we doing better or worse?
3. Do you think that this “Grand Experiment” we call a Constitutional Democracy will be better or worse in 10 years? Again, a simple question with many possible variations but take what you believe is happening and play it out over the next ten years. What do you think our democracy will look like in ten years and will it be better or worse than now?
4. Do you trust the American political process? Again, a yes or a no answer. This question is more about believing that our politicians have the Nations best interest at heart. Do you trust them?
5. As we watch President Biden slowly regress mentally, if the time is right, should the 25th Amendment be invoked? It is apparent that President Biden is having difficulty keeping his focus and I am sure there are many in both parties that have seen this as well. They have to be thinking that there may be a time that for the betterment of the country, they may have to start the process and what do you think? Yes or no.
I am pretty sure I know how the majority of my readers will answer but for that group that finds these questions hard, I think that maybe your not as sure about your beliefs as you first thought.
There will be some you that will come up with some nonsense about asking these questions during the Trump administration. Making the right dig deep and being honest and so forth. I suppose that could have been done back in 2018 but unlike every Democrat, Liberal and Social Democrat I am not obsessed with Donald Trump. I am concerned about where the country is now. I am concerned about where this country is headed. President trump is out of office. His work, good and bad is in the past. Enough already with Trump did this and Trump did that. We have a President now who is clearly operating at less than full capacity and that is my concern.
As I rank the worst presidents in modern time, 1950s to now, 3rd Obama, 2nd Carter, and a distant 1st biden. Johnson is in there, somewhere. As a senator, biden was as crooked as they come.
Then as far as great, a tie between Reagan and Trump, we are always cleaning up the democrats mess. And if anyone cares to debate me, I look forward to using facts, not emotions.
