Blame Game
If you look around, things seem to be getting progressively worse and I honestly have no answers for most of it.
Yes. The planet is getting hotter. The ice caps are melting and the polar bears are suffering. We have answers but those answers seem to just create a different set of problems.
We still have a divided country even though we have a President that has promised to “Bring this great nation back together”. As time goes on and different events happen, both sides seem to dig in deeper and be less willing to have a conversation.
The World is in turmoil for sure. You have the Russians trying to exert their will on a population that will have none of that Putin BS. Allies lined up to help and their is discord among the various populations regarding helping Ukraine fight off the Russian’s ambitions. In Sudan it is becoming a humanitarian disaster once again. Peaceful resolutions only go so far in Africa when tribal leaders get involved.
There are tragedies upon tragedies in the US all revolving around some sort of gun violence and it just seems to have no solution and no end.
In all of these storylines the one thing that remains a constant is blame. Some blame is clearcut. Russians ARE responsible for the war in Ukraine. No argument there. Sudan is more complicated and I honestly have not been following it closely but I am pretty sure that the blame can fall equally on both sides.
However, the climate crisis, which seems to have become this administration’s priority, directly or indirectly, the only blame is on humanity.
Humans have impacted the planet since they crawled out of the miasma 500,000 years ago or since Adam hoodwinked Eve. It is a fact. I am not sure why anyone thinks that 8 billion people on a planet can limit and reverse the impact that they have had on the planet. I am not saying we shouldn’t try and be more conscious about how we treat this planet but no matter what we attempt to do, we will always be at work destroying this Earth.
The administration is, in my opinion, blindly pushing this country to some electrified ecosystem that may be just as harmful as the ecosystem we have now. Mining for the metals that go into electric batteries is as intense as any coal mining we have done. Slave and child labor is used in Africa to get various elements at the lowest cost possible. The shelf life of most of these batteries is about ten years. Then what? Recycling is not a priority and some of these batteries can not be recycled so they end up in landfills. The windfarms that are supposed to save the planet are another ecological disaster.
The one thing about blame is that it is either accepted, shared or passed on to others and that is where this administration has excelled like no other. Passing the blame.
Like every administration since this country was founded, they have made many mistakes. Cancelling the Keystone Pipeline. The border. The Afghan pullout. The list can go on and on and yet, they have never accepted responsibility for any of their mistakes. The mantra is always, “We did a great job…”.
Give me a break, please.
Accept that your administration has completely screwed up and maybe my opinion would soften a bit. Yet, they either say it was an excellent result or blame Donald Trump somehow.
My guy tells me the more you give Donald Trump any sort of credit, the longer he will stay around. Don’t blame him, don’t mention him and maybe he will just go away.
Never happen. Dissing Trump sells newspapers, gets hits on social media, increases ratings. He makes money for those that hate him, and for those that love him.
I have said it before, move on America. There are good prospects for effective leadership on the Republican side and thats where we should be focusing.
The Democrats don’t have that deep bench and that is and will continue to be a huge problem for them. The blame for that can not be shared. It can not be passed on to the other side. The blame lies squarely on the backs of Democratic leadership, whoever they are.
While Democrats can crow about supposed victories and doing the strut around DC they should have also been looking for someone to take the mantle away from President Biden. I am very aware of the fact that a sitting President generally has a “Go Directly to your reelection” card for his stellar work in the White House but it’s not unprecedented. They could have groomed someone to take over for a conscious Biden. Kamala Harris would seem to be that person but she is a literal zero. She registers nothing on any scale and a divided Republican party candidate would thrash her if she were to be the Democrats choice. So, the blame for putting a aging doddering potential criminal up for reelection lies squarely on the Democrats and when he inadvertently says something so stupid that even the spin masters in DC can’t get him out from it, I will say I told you so.
I will save my last point about gun violence for another column. I am not sure who to blame here and I know this is a very hot button topic. It needs it’s own column.
